Prekmurje
Prekmurje wine region is located on the left bank of the Mura river, between the Austrian and Hungarian border. Interrupted by Prekmurje plane, it would be appropriate to place it under sub-districts, Lendavske and Goricko hills. A well-known White Riesling from Lendava hills, processed at a relatively steep slopes, where the vines and grapes are exposed to the sun from morning till night, gives a wonderful quality.
Winegrowing Goričko Wards: In the far northeastern part of Slovenia, the Pannonian Plain rises in slightly waved Goričko, overlooked and forgotten landscape of many. It is a world where the traditional method of cultivation of small plots in everyday life is normal, it's a romantic image for the newcomer and hard work without much of the proceeds to people who live in an economically underdeveloped area.
Goricko wines have always been experienced international fame, as it was back in 1840, when Goričko wine in Vienna was proclaimed the best wine in Central Europe. For some years, this wine has been supplied to the Viennese court. But as they never returned the barrels back, the grower Malačič from Kančevci, decided to sue them. Although the court defended itself by claiming that one buys a cow with the skin and wine with the barrels, the action was lost.
Wine growing hills, the Lendava hills: Are the picturesque hills between the Kobilje Brook, Krka and Ledava. They include growing hills of the state road Dolga vas - Lendava - Pince and the border with the Republic of Hungary. Extending the length of 9 km from the village of Long Pince on the surface of 489 ha. High as from 265 to 328 m.
Winegrowing hills Lendavske-Goričko measure 524 hectares. From white varieties grow Riesling, Šipon, Sylvaner, Rizvanec, local ranina, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Kerner, Riesling. From the red varieties thrive Franconian, zweigelt, Pinot Noir.
Famous wine vineyards are in Lendava hills Pince, Valley, Čentiba, Lendava and Dolga vas, then the Dobrovnik, Strehovcih and Kobilje, in region of Goriška in Filovci over Bogojino in Tešanovcih, Sebeborcih in Vaneča, Šalamence and Bodonci and on very steep slopes of Kuštanovci and Središki breg.
